Application Process

 

You can get a Tourist Visa or a Business Visa for Peru from the Embassy of Peru in New Delhi. The process and requirements are different for Tourist Visa and Business Visa. The other categories of Visa which fall under the purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, might require additional processing and clearance from their headquarters in Peru. TOURIST VISA:

 

If you wish to visit Peru only for recreational purposes, you can easily apply for a tourist Visa. The application for tourist Visa doesn’t validate a permanent residence, business activities and the purpose of immigration of the applicant. The requirements and process for the Tourist Visa is as per mentioned below.

 

Application Process:

 

-          The tourist Visa applications are to be submitted at the Embassy of Peru in New Delhi. This is the only authorised office for India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, for issuing Peru tourist Visa. Make sure that your application is submitted here only.

-          The Embassy of Peru doesn’t accept Visa applications over email or courrier. It can be either in person or through an agent.

-          In case, your application is being submitted through an agent, the application will be processed upon the submission of the original file only.

-          The applicants from Bangladesh, Nepal or Sri Lanka, are required to furnish a Police Clearance Certificate along with the application.

-          The tourist Visa processing time is usually 4-5 days for Indian Nationals. Applications from other than Indian nationals might take around 10 days to be processed.

-          All the Visa applications are duly assessed and processed by the Peruvian Council and just submitting the Visa application doesn’t mean that you have received the Visa.

-          Holding a Yellow Fever Certificate is not mandatory for Peru Visa applications.

 

Documents Required:

 

-          The applicant needs to hold a passport with minimum six months validity from the date of arrival in Peru. The photocopies of the passport needs to be submitted along with the application.

-          The applicant needs to submit two duly filled DGC 005 Form - hand-written or printed in black ink, to the embassy.

-          Along with the application, the applicant needs to attach 3 latest passport size photographs of 4.3 cm X 3.5 cm size. The face in the photograph should cover approx 70% to 80% area and the background of the image should be white.

-          The application also needs to have a cover letter signed by the applicant.

-          In case the applicants are employed, they must furnish a No Objection Certificate from their employer. The NOC must mention the date of joining the organization, the purpose of visit and duration of the stay in Peru.

-          The tentative itinerary of tourist visit, hotel reservation details and round-trip ticket booking for Peru are also to be submitted with the application.

-          If required, the applicant might have to attach the personal ITR Form 16 (Income Tax Return for one year) with the application. Keeping it handy would make the process a lot easier.

-          The statements from your bank regarding your account as well as fixed deposits is also required as a proof of your financial solvency. And if the trip is sponsored, the proof of financial solvency of the sponsor is also required to be submitted.

-          If the applicant is taking a sponsored trip to Peru, the sponsor needs to take full responsibility for all the cost of boarding, lodging and/ or repatriation, if needed.

-          In case of a sponsored trip, the identity proof of the Peruvian/ Indian sponsor such as Peruvian DNI, Passport or Indian Aadhar Card are also to be submitted.

 

 

BUSINESS VISA:

 

If you wish to engage in business activities in Peru, then you must apply for a Business Visa. The business Visa is mandatory if you are planning to engage in commercial and contractual activities. Until and unless there is an agreement between your government and Peruvian government allowing business visits without a visa, you can not engage in business activity in Peru without a valid business Visa. Business Visa - Application Process:

 

-          The business Visa applications are also to be submitted at the Embassy of Peru in New Delhi. This is the only authorised office for India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, for issuing Peru business Visa. So, you must submit your application here only.

-          All the Visa applications are duly assessed and processed by the Peruvian Council and just submitting the Visa application doesn’t mean that you have received the Visa.

-          The business Visa processing time is usually 4-5 days for Indian Nationals. Applications from other than Indian nationals might take around 10 days to be processed.

-          Upon submission of the business Visa application, the Consular Section of the Embassy of Peru has the right to ask for more documents and even an interview with the applicant, depending on their needs.

-          Holding a Yellow Fever Certificate is not mandatory for Peru business Visa applications.

 

Business Visa - Documents Required:

 

-          The applicant needs to hold a passport with minimum six months validity from the date of arrival in Peru. The photocopies of the passport needs to be submitted along with the application.

-          You also need an invitation letter from your business associate in Peru, in English or Spanish. The letter needs to be mailed directly to consular@embassyperuindia.in or faxed on +91-11-4616 3301, by your business associate.

-          A letter from your organization, mentioning the company profile and purpose of the travel is also to be furnished along with your application.

-          You need to attach the proof of registration of your organization and a letter from any recognized organizations such as FICCI, ASSOCHAM, FIEO, APEDA, etc., confirming your organization’s registration too.

-          Along with the application, you need to attach the details of hotel reservation and round-trip ticket booking for Peru.

-          Your personal bank statements for the last 3 months, income tax receipt for the last financial year and salary slips for the last 6 months are also required for obtaining a business Visa.

 

Important Update for Indian Citizens

 

If you are an Indian national with an ordinary Indian passport, holding permanent residence OR if you have a visa with at least 6 months’ validity from USA, UK, Canada, Australia or any of the 26 Schengen countries of Europe; you don't need a temporary visa for Peru for the maximum 180 calendar days’ stay. From March 2017, the Indian citizens fulfilling these criteria, are exempted from the mandatory tourist visa. These 180 days’ stay may be a continuous stay or in the form of multiple visits in a year. The conditions of stay shall be determined by the immigraiton officers at the port of entry.

 

So, you need to be very careful about the eligibility criteria, visa processes and documents required along with the application.   • Medical Expenses (inclusive of Repatriation and Emergency Medical Evacuation), Daily Allowance in case of hospitalization, Compassionate Visit benefits, the following will not be payable for Any pre-existing condition, Routine examinations, Expenses for rest or recuperation at spa/ health resort/ sanatorium, Pregnancy (including childbirth, miscarriage, abortion or related complications ) or treatment relating to the removal of physical flaws or anomalies (cosmetic treatment or plastic surgery).
  • Cosmetic surgery, unless such cosmetic surgery is rendered medically necessary as part of treatment for accidents and burns whilst being abroad.
  • Suicide, attempted or wilfully self inflicted injury or illness, mental disorder, anxiety, stress or depression, venereal disease, alcoholism, drunkenness or the abuse of drugs, or any loss arising, directly or indirectly, from any injury, illness, death, loss, expense, or other liability attributable to HIV and/or any HIV related illness including AIDS and/or any mutant derivative or variation thereof however caused.
  • Treatment which could be reasonably delayed until the Insured’s return to India, which will be decided jointly by the treating Physician and the Emergency Assistance Service Provider and shall be in accordance with accepted standards of medical care.
  • The Insured taking part in naval, military or air force operations; war and nuclear perils.
  • Insured engaging in air travel unless he or she flies as a Fare Paying passenger in an aircraft licensed to carry passengers.
  • Participation of the Insured in winter sports, mountaineering and such other professional sports or any other hazardous or potentially dangerous sport for which the Insured members are adequately trained, physically fit and using proper equipment. and that too only if specifically agreed and mentioned in the policy schedule.
  • Hazardous occupation, or if engaged in any criminal or illegal act.
  • Medical Expenses in respect of Experimental, investigational or unproven treatments or treatments which are not consistent with or incidental to the diagnosis and treatment of the positive existence or presence of any Illness for which confinement is required at a Hospital. Any Illness or treatment which is a result or a consequence of undergoing such experimental or unproven treatment.
  • Naturopathy treatment.
  • Non Allopathic treatment e.g. - Ayurvedic, Yogic, Homeopathic, Unani treatment(s).
  • Under no circumstances shall this insurance contract be deemed to provide cover and no liability be incurred to pay any claim or provide any benefit hereunder to the extent that the provision of such cover, payment of such claim or provision of such benefit would expose us to any sanction, prohibition, or restriction under United Nations resolutions or the trade or economic sanctions, laws or regulations of the European Union, United Kingdom, United States of America & India
