You can apply for your visa either using;

IMMIGRATION online or Via paper based application at any of the Visa Application Centre (VAC)

Immigration Online:

INZ’s or Immigration New Zealand’s Immigration Online system provides you the option to apply online for various types of visa but it does not allow you to apply for all visa types. You will need to upload relevant documents, photographs while the payment for the visa application fee will also be done online.

NOTE:

You may be asked to provide your passport

However, you will be notified of the same on the ‘Thank You’ page after you have submitted your Immigration ONLINE visa application. In such a case, you will need to send your passport to the nearest VAC. Additionally, you will also need to send relevant documents, and they are:

  • Your passport
  • The passport handing fee (refer to VAC website specific to your country for details)
  • Passport return courier fee (if applicable)
  • Your contact details including telephone number, e-mail address and physical address
Paper Based Application:

You can apply for New Zealand visa using paper based application forms. If you select this option, then you will need to submit the form and the documents at the nearest VAC.

NOTE:

When submitting an application to a VAC, you will be required to submit:

  • Your Passport
  • Visa Application form
  • Supporting documents as per checklist
  • Visa fee, VAC service fee and courier fee (if applicable)

How to Book Appointment?

Once you have submitted your application along with relevant documents, you will need to book an appointment at the High Commission of New Zealand in India or the New Zealand embassy or New Zealand consulate. You will be informed regarding the same once you have submitted your application and relevant documents.

New Zealand Visa Eligibility

The eligibility for a New Zealand visa is dependent on the type of visa you are applying for. Additionally, it is also dependent on the purpose, nature and duration of your visit. However, there are few common eligibility criteria that you will need to fulfil to be considered for a New Zealand visa. You need to ensure that you fulfil the eligibility criteria for an Australia visa. Australian government will not grant you a visa if you are deemed to have not met their character requirements.

The requirements are:

  • You should not have a comprehensive criminal record
  • You should not have been convicted for any immigration related violations or offences
  • You need to show that you have a good character
  • You will need to prove that during the course of your stay, you will not pose a threat to the citizens of New Zealand.

How to Check Status of New Zealand Visa

Once your application is submitted and your appointment is completed, you will be able to track the status of your application. You can visit here to know the status if you have applied online. Alternatively, you call the ICC contact centre at +64 9 914 4100.

New Zealand Visa Document Requirements

1 The application form should be completed and signed by the applicant
2 Passport should be valid beyond a period of a minimum of three months after the tentative date of departure.
Passport should have at least two of its pages blank
The passport should not be more than a decade old.
No handwritten amendment or alteration should exist on the data page
3 Two photographs: should abide by the international standards for photographs as established in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
4 Valid permit of return (may not be applicable in every case)
5 Cover letter: it should explain the nature and purpose of of the trip
8 Travel itinerary in case of round-trip flight bookings
9 Minor travellers:
a) a minor should be accompanied by at least one parent who should provide a Original notarized NOC by the other parent in addition to the copies of passports or IDs of parents
b) a minor, if travelling alone, should provide a Original notarized NOC that has to be signed by both parents / legal guardians, plus copies of passports or IDs of parents
