A very small town located in the Badulla District, Ella is situated in the Uva Province in Sri Lanka. Ella is located nearly 200kms away from the commercial hub of the country, Colombo. It is located nearly 3500ft above sea level and considered as one of the most popular tourist destinations. Most of the area is covered by dense green forest, and the town has a collection of beautiful flora and fauna. Surrounded by hills and forests, it offers one of the best views in Sri Lanka. Ravana Falls- This popular sightseeing spot in Sri Lanka is located in Ella. The height of the waterfall is approximately 25 m and makes an oval shape. The flow of the water depends on the season. During the dry season, the amount of water that flows in the waterfall reduces while in the monsoon season the waterfall looks absolutely different and beautiful. The fall has been named after the famous mytho-historic character Ravana. According to the myths, Ravana after kidnaping Sita had kept her in a cave behind this waterfall. On your visit to the waterfall do not miss to visit this cave.
Ella Rock- Another famous tourist hub in the country is Ella Rock located in the district of Ella. This rock can look challenging in the beginning, but when you finish the climb, then the reward you get is absolutely worth the struggle. The locals can be great guides while you hike in the area. Dhowa Rock Temple- This famous site in the country is a protected area. The Dhowa rock temple is located in the central mountains of the district of Ella.
