What Is An Ulcer ?

An ulcer is a discontinuity or physical rupture in the membrane of the body that causes hindrance in the function of that organ. Ulcers occur in the epithelium or the mucous membrane of the skin surface. An ulcer may form in different parts of the body such as stomach, esophagus, small intestine or mouth.

  • The treatment entirely depends on the severity of the ulcers. Most of the ulcers can be cured non-surgically.
  • Your doctor may suggest antibiotics and anti-fungal medicines in case the ulcer is caused due to infections.
  • The over the counter drugs shall help to neutralize the acid produced in the stomach.
  • You may be recommended to bring basic changes in the dietary habits such as avoid spices, avoid food that is too hot. Instead add more fluids and fruits to your diet.

Are There Any Natural Remedies For Ulcers ?

You can try these effective natural remedies to ease your symptoms and to speed up your recovery:
1. Vegetable Juice
Ingredients: Cabbage, Carrots
Ways to Use:

Cut one half of a cabbage along with two carrots. Blend them to extract the juice. Drink one cup of this juice before every meal during the day.

2. Bananas
Ingredients: Bananas
Ways to Use:

Bananas are a rich source of anti-bacterial compounds and therefore have been found to treat ulcers. You can choose to have 2-3 ripe bananas a day or you can also consume them in the form of banana shake.

3. Licorice (Mulethi)
Ingredients: Licorice root powder, White rice, Water
Ways to Use:

To a cup of water, add half a teaspoon of licorice root powder. Cover it and keep it overnight. Add a cup of cooked white rice to the water. Eat this mixture. Repeat daily for a week.

4. Honey
Ingredients: Honey
Ways to Use:

Rich in polyphenols and other anti-oxidants, honey is also a powerful anti-bacterial. Consume a teaspoon of honey every day with warm water.
