What Is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a chronic condition where the body is either unable to produce or regulate the glucose content in the blood. In general, the glucose levels are controlled by the insulin hormone which is produced in the pancreas.

There are two main types of diabetes:

In Type I Diabetes, which affects 5% of the total diabetes population, the body is unable to produce insulin. The body destroys its own insulin producing cells and causes the glucose levels to rise significantly.

In Type II Diabetes, which affects 95% of the total diabetes population, the body is unable to use the produced insulin. This leads to high glucose levels
