Why Mahindra XUV 300 Is The Perfect Car To Buy For Your Family

Mahindra XUV 300 joins the XUV family. While XUV 500 was a game-changing SUV, XUV 300 joins the rapidly growing compact SUV market in India. It may not offer as much space as some other drives in the segment, what makes it a perfect car for your family is its best-in-class equipment and safety kit.

XUV 300 takes its design cues from the massively successful SsangYong Tivoli’s X100 architecture. This has allowed Mahindra to save on design costs, while still delivering a great driving experience. At the moment, this compact SUV is powered by locally made engines that come only with a manual transmission in both diesel and petrol variants. We expect that an AMT auto variant would be launched by the end of the year.

  • Design

As stated earlier, the design of XUV 300 is based on the Tivoli. Though Mahindra has trimmed its length from 4,195mm to 3,995mm to stay in the sub-four-metre car segment. This is important for the Indian market as cars under four metre long are taxed significantly less.

  • Interior

The black and beige theme with silver accents makes the interior of the XUV 300 pleasing. The front seats are very comfortable, and the driver will get a view of the bonnet of the car as is expected of any "proper SUV". The cabin is spacious as well, offering ample knee and headroom. Storage areas at the rear include seat back straps to hold magazines, door pockets, and cupholders in the armrest.

  • Performance

XUV 300 is powered by 1.5-litre diesel or 1.2 litre turbo-petrol engine, based on the variant you choose. These engines have been developed and tuned by Mahindra in-house. The turbo engine delivers a power of 110hp and 200Nm. The diesel engine gets e-VGT making it deliver a max torque of 300Nm at a power of 117hp.

  • Ride

With 180mm of ground clearance and longer travel for suspension, the XUV 300 is built for Indian roads. It offers a smooth ride even on uneven roads with minimal body shocks.

  • Features

The standard safety kit consists of all-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, speed-sensing door locks, dual airbags, corner braking control, child seat anchors and front seatbelt pre-tensioners. The top variants get packed with even more features including ESP, hill-launch assist, five additional airbags (side, curtain, and driver-knee) for increased safety, front parking sensors, and three-point seat belts and adjustable neck restraints for all the seats – all of it making XUV 300 among the safest car in its segment.

XUV 300 is also the first compact SUV to have heated outside mirrors, dual-zone climate control, smart steering system, smartwatch connectivity, micro-hybrid system, and tyre pressure monitoring system. You could also upgrade to touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

If you own this fantastic SUV, make sure you also get a comprehensive car insurance cover to protect it from any unforeseen eventualities.
