The Ninja family by Kawasaki has been a household name for over 30 years. By unveiling its newest addition, the Ninja ZX-10R has brought in a powerful successor to the Ninja ZX-9R. A credible add on to the sports bike segment, the manufacturer has added several mechanical upgradations and features but has kept the model competitive with the most affordable litre-class superbike in this category.
Still on a pre-booking mode at a token amount of Rs. 1.5 lakhs, the new Ninja ZX-10R in India is said to be getting a single seat layout. However, rumour has it that this will be available in a limited edition variant only, possibly as the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) edition. Kawasaki aims to start its deliveries from mid-June 2019 onwards.
While it still resembles its older generation, the Ninja ZX-10R has been built with the following key upgrades:
The valve train has been designed by Kawasaki's World Superbike (WSBK) engineers.
This model will be assembled domestically. The looks and the style of the model being produced are similar to the unit used at the World Superbike Racing Championships. In fact, Kawasaki did put out a statement that mentioned the development of this model basis the insights and data taken from the WSBK races. The manufacturer also stated that the same data has been assessed and embedded to build this particular model.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a powerhouse with a 998 cc in-line four-cylinder, the liquid-cooled motor now belting out 200.2 bhp, which can be raised to 210 bhp with RAM air consumption. A new, lighter and more dependable set-up comes into play with a finger-follower valve actuation and red painted cylinder head cover for the engine. Updated to accommodate a high lift cam without any changes on the cylinder head, this model comprises of a modified 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. This gearbox has now gotten the Kawasaki Quick Shifter-Dual Direction quick-shifter that allows clutch-less shifts.
The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R has suspension duties that still uses the completely adaptable 43 mm Showa overturned forks up front with 120 mm travel and back-link gas charged mono shock unit at the rear with 114 mm travel. The dual semi-floating discs of 330mm with Brembo M50 monobloc calipers at the front and a 220mm single disc at the rear with a single-piston caliper accentuates the braking performance even more.
The new Ninja ZX-10R is loaded on electronic aids, has mind-blowing speed, accelerates faster and tricks you into believing that you have actually acquired the riding skills you have been dreaming about all this while, overnight. But make sure your dream bike is also covered with a comprehensive Two Wheeler insurance plan.
