Why

Why Do Patients With Hypertension Need Health Insurance

Technology has undoubtedly made our life faster and easier. But with technological advancements at its peak, our lives have become more stressful. Fast-paced lifestyle, high-pressure jobs, psychological barriers and lack of physical activities have resulted in the rise of such lifestyle diseases such as Hypertension.

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension is a medical condition where a person's blood pressure increases abnormally. Hence, affecting blood vessels of the kidney and the heart, compromising proper blood flow. It may seem like a small problem, but it brings with it more significant issues. Hypertension is a medical condition of high blood pressure on account of increasing stress and fast-paced lifestyle. Hypertension is one of the primary reasons for heart strokes, heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. Such uncertainties can be imminent and unnatural. Therefore, the patients with Hypertension must get individual health insurance to safeguard the financial risks of such uncertainty, i.e. Healthcare expenses do not burn a hole in one's pockets.

How can Health Insurance help?

Health insurance is a risk management tool that safeguards the policyholder against unwarranted medical and hospital expenses. Every risk-sharing device comes at a cost, and it would be the annual premium in case of a health insurance policy. It becomes especially important for senior citizens to own medical insurance as hypertension increases with age.

Different Types of Hypertension:

Hypertension is classified into two types.

  1. Primary Hypertension:

Any other medical condition that does not cause Hypertension is a primary form of Hypertension. In this form of Hypertension, blood plasma volume and the activity of the hormones responsible for regulating the blood volume and pressure is affected. Certain external factors like stressful jobs, lack of physical activity etc. can also influence primary Hypertension.

  1. Secondary Hypertension

Hypertension arising due to another medical condition, it is known as Secondary Hypertension. It results as an impact from other medical conditions which include diabetes, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid gland), pregnancy, obesity, etc.

Need for Health Insurance patients with Hypertension

  1. Increasing healthcare costs

The healthcare costs primarily include pre-hospitalization expenses like consultation fees, hospitalization expenses and post-hospitalization expenses. The entire package happens to be a significant financial sum. Patients with Hypertension are prey to uncertain medical conditions like stroke etc. In such cases, an unexpectedly large medical bill may hamper the corpus of the individual and may inhibit the financial well-being of the family.

  1. Quality comes at much higher costs.

In times of emergency, people generally prefer quick turnaround and quality medical treatment with advance technology. Private Hospitals usually can adhere to such requirements far more than the government hospitals. However, it comes at a higher cost. Worrying about the expenses may put further stress too. One needs to relax as worrying about medical costs can deteriorate your health further. After all, you can't afford to mount the tension levels when you are already a patient of high blood pressure.  A well-understood and researched plan will help to focus more on getting the best medical care rather than worrying about its expenses. It may ensure a speedy recovery, treatment from skilled professionals and healthy well-being.

  1. Waiting period Clause

This is the most crucial clause in any health insurance plan as it gives the starting period after which a particular medical illness may be covered under the insurance policy. A wise person would not wait for a tragedy to strike, instead he would invest in one of the insurance plans as soon as he is diagnosed with one. Also starting early would ensure that you pay lower premiums, as you get the age benefit. Generally, health insurance policies have a waiting period clause for some diseases that include High blood pressure and Hypertension. Therefore, it would be wise to buy an insurance policy thoroughly before one gets to a stage of extreme Hypertension. If you purchase the right health plan in early stages of symptoms, the insurance policyholder may be able to reap the maximum benefits of the policy by the time of an actual uncertain event.

  1. Wide Coverage

On completing the waiting period, the medical insurance policy allows broader coverage of expenses for a patient with Hypertension. Generally, these expenses including but not limited to, doctor's consultation, diagnostic tests, costs of medicines, hospitalization expenses etc. These fees may be further increased if it comes from a specialist doctor. Medications prescribed for Hypertension are costly. The frequency of diagnostic is more for patients with Hypertension to track the blood pressure levels regularly and prescribed the medicines accordingly to control the same. It is vital to safeguard your financial purse against these regular expenses.

Therefore, it is always wise to have a comprehensive insurance policy for people with stressful jobs and businesses.  We all know that one cannot control contracting any medical illness, but one can always dig deeper into the causes and reasons and do his best to avoid them or safeguard himself. Health Insurance is one of the first reactive actions towards healthy well-being and financial security.
