Tips to Reduce Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance which is present in all the cells of your body. Not all cholesterol is bad; good cholesterol is also necessary for our body to make vitamin D, hormones and substances which help our body to digest the food. Cholesterol is insoluble in water just like fat; it's transported in the body with the help of lipoproteins, these lipoprotein molecules carry cholesterol, fat and fat-soluble vitamins in blood.

There are three types of cholesterol of which only HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) is the good cholesterol that carries back the cholesterol from other parts of the body to the liver. Then, the liver removes the extra cholesterol from the body. Here are a few tips to reduce cholesterol, you can follow to lower the risks of accumulating bad cholesterol in the body.

Eat food that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a soluble fibre which reduces blood pressure and also reduces cholesterol absorption. You can also add whey protein to your diet.
