Tips To Get Lowest Insurance Premium For Honda Cars

The Honda Motor Car Company- is a Japanese Company, well known in the automotive sector for its cars – their quality and build. Honda has a keen following in the Indian market as well – especially for its models like Civic, Amaze, Accord and the new Honda CRV. It is a semi-luxury vehicle segment and has many happy consumers vouching for its cars.

As with all vehicles, a car insurance is a must – and on obtaining a Honda Car – your thought turns first and foremost to the Insurance. How do you adequately cover the risk to the Car and manage the lowest possible premium? This is easily possible. Just keep these tips in mind.

Get alternative quotes from different Insurance Companies:

Don’t assume the cheapest – really ask for quotes and then compare them. There are many ways to do this research – either online on individual sites or insurance aggregator websites. You can also see an Insurance agent if you would prefer to be walked through the process.

You can explore local or regional insurers as long as they are IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority) registered:

Smaller Insurers may have high levels of customer satisfaction while also offering competitive quotes. Regional Insurers may also have a stronger network of local garages and if the distance you usually travel is not very far – then this might suit you admirably.

Select the car carefully:

Honda is one of the cheaper cars to insure. Due to the easy availability of parts and strong and simple aggregates, this is a great choice to lower your  Honda insurance costs. Also, the size of the car matters, if you buy as per your needs – you will find the Insurance cost cheaper as well. The Fuel used by the car is also considered – the insurance premium for a CNG fitted car is higher than cars that use petrol or diesel as fuel.

A vehicle which is well looked after matters to Insurance companies:

If you are a conscientious vehicle owner and treat your Honda gently and take it for regular servicing etc. – make sure you share these details with the Insurance Company to avail lower premiums. Additionally installing Anti-theft systems in the car also lowers the insurance premium on the car.

Use Add-ons available with care:

Add-ons available are of great use and can help cover risk more effectively. But these are not much required for an older car and since they add to the premium cost – can be done away with after careful consideration. For example, the no depreciation add-on makes no sense for an older car.

Driving record matters:

The way you drive – and whether or not you have been caught speeding, or parking wrongfully, driving under the influence etc., can all affect your insurance premium. It pays to be a safe driver for more than one reason.

No Claim Bonus:

When you are driving safe – and also file for claim judicially – and not for every small matter, you get what is called a No Claim Bonus. A No claim bonus is a percentage reduction in premium for every year of no claim filed towards insurance claim. This increases for every year and can go up to a maximum of 50% of the premium cost.

Increase the Deductible

Deductibles are the amount the insured pays towards any claim before the insurer must pay. If you opt for a higher deductible the insurance premium is lowered by the Insurance Company.

Pay Attention At The Time Of Renewals:

Do a few competitive Insurance Rates checks at the time of renewal. Due to IRDAI policies, you can switch insurance providers if you are being offered a better premium rate – without losing on your benefits of accumulated NCB (No claim bonus).
