And while the experience can be a lot of fun and immensely rewarding, things can quickly go awry if you haven’t prepared for it.

So, here is a list of essentials to pack before embarking on a road trip

    • Registration Certificate (RC Book)

  • Snacks

While you may find a shop selling basic groceries even in the remotest corners of India, it would still be a good idea to stock up a few dry snacks like biscuits, khakhras, etc. as you may be travelling at night and may have to go miles before you find an open shop.

  • Music

Create a large playlist of your favourite songs and include them in your phone to perk your mood. Now a days there are music apps which help you listen to a massive range of songs. Through such apps, one can even download favourite songs and listen to the without the internet.

  • A large water bottle

While people may find it convenient to stock a crate of mineral water bottles, not only does it take up space, it isn’t very environmentally friendly. Make sure you carry a large water bottle that you can refill when you stop to eat at restaurants or stay over in hotels

  • Swiss Army Knife

One can never overstate the usefulness of a Swiss Army Knife. It has a multitude of uses. It includes a pair of scissors, blade, bottle opener, corkscrew, can opener, screwdrivers and a few more appendages. By know you might be aware that a single Swiss Army Knife, which will snugly fit in your pocket, can be used for a several purposes.

  • Travel Insurance

If you are travelling outside India, it is recommended that you take out a travel insurance policy to protect you from unforeseen circumstances such as loss of passport, hospitalization due to an accident, etc.

  • A few plastic waste bags

Carry a few to store trash generated on a long journey. This would help keep your car as well as your travel destination clean.
