Stay Healthy By Doing These Minor Activities Everyday
To lead a successful life and achieve all work and personal goals, one must first be in good health. Unfortunately lifestyle related health problems are on the rise as urban city dwellers lead hectic but not active lives.
Incorporating some minor activities in your daily life can make you a healthier, fitter person.
- Walk when you can – Walking is the simplest and most doable form of daily exercise with immense health benefits. A brisk one hour early morning walk is great. But even a 10-20 minute walk during lunch break in a busy work day can improve your health and leave you feeling less stressed and more energetic.
- Eat breakfast – Breakfast is the first meal of the day and the most crucial one as it gets you charged up to take on the day. Eat a good balanced breakfast that includes protein, fibre and healthy fats.
- Drink water before meals – Practice drinking water before meals. This helps in better digestion, as compared to drinking water along with or immediately after a meal, which actually interrupts and hampers the digestion process.
- Practice mindful eating – Eat your meals with full concentration and awareness. This means putting aside all distractions such as your mobile phone, TV and other gadgets and devices. To receive proper nourishment, focus on the plate of food in front of you. Be conscious of what and how you are eating – eat slowly and chew thoroughly.
- Follow the 20-20-20 screen time rule – Reduce digital eyestrain and keep your eyes and vision healthy by looking away from your screen every 20 minutes at something at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
- Take the stairs – Make it a daily habit to ditch the elevator and climb at least a few flights of stairs in your home or office building. Climbing stairs is a great work out for your leg muscles. It also increases your core strength and is a simple but effective cardio exercise.
- Move often from your seat – Those with a job that involves many hours of sitting at a workstation should get up and walk around at regular intervals, at least once every hour. This will help avoid lower back pain arising from bad posture while being seated for a long period at a stretch.
- End screen-time 30 minutes before bedtime – The light from digital screens interferes with the body’s natural ability to fall asleep which in turn harms our health as our body repairs itself during sleep. Put away all digital devices at least 30 minutes before sleep time.
Along with following good habits, it is wise to be prepared for any eventuality. Get a comprehensive health insurance policy that will cover you during expensive hospitalisation and treatment expenditure. You can purchase Health Advantedge Insurance online from any health insurance company that provides you the required cover.
