Know About Safety Feature For Toyota Fortuner Car

Toyota Fortuner is a powerful, stylish in looks SUV. It was launched in India in the year 2009. It has become one of the best and highest selling SUVs in India by the year 2019. With several other high end features, what Toyota offers without any compromise is its safety measures. The Toyota Fortuner offers its customers a variety of safety features such as dual front SRS airbags, shift lock system, front disc brakes, electronic brake force distribution, immobilizer, back sonar, seatbelts, amongst other things.

To check what safety features are provided by the car is of utmost importance since it helps in reducing the chances of accidents.

Here are the safety features provided by the Toyota Fortuner:

  • Airbags: The Airbag is an occupant restraint system. These are balloon like devices that are designed in a way that it inflates and then deflates during a collision. Airbags help in preventing a person from colliding from any hard portions of the car during any collision. Toyota Fortuner offers two airbags to its passengers as a standard feature and can have up to 7 SRS airbags. There are one passenger frontal airbag and one driver frontal airbag.
  • ABS: The Toyota Fortuner is equipped with the ABS feature too. ABS basically mean Anti-Lock Braking System. The Anti-lock braking system helps to maintain grip with the road and prevents the wheels from locking up. The ABS is a part of ‘Electronic Stability Control’. This system monitors the wheel under heavy braking.

Here are a few reasons why the Anti-Lock Braking System is important-

  • Cars that have ABS rarely stray ahead from the road
  • The chances of a frontal collision on wet and dry roads decrease with ABS
  • ABS fitted cars have fewer chances of having a fatal crash
  • Electronic Brake Distribution: Along with the ABS comes to another electronic marvel which is known as the EBD or Electronic Brake Distribution. The function of the EBD is to control the amount of braking force on each wheel for reducing the speed of the car or to bring it in a complete stop. The reason behind EBD is that the amount of braking force required on each wheel can vary considering a couple of factors like speed of the vehicle, condition of the road etc. Therefore, the EDS distribute the brake force.
  • Traction Control (TRC): The function of the TRC is to monitor the condition between the surface of the road and the tires of the car. It helps the wheels of the car from slipping when it is accelerating on wet or slippery roads. Whenever the Traction Control detects any spin in the wheels, it either applies brakes or slows down the engine to ensure the tires are controlled properly and regulate spinning.
  • Engine Immobilizer: The Engine Immobilizer is an anti-theft system. It comes with a key fob that stores a digital code. The key fob transmits a ‘password’ to the vehicle's electronic management system when it is inserted into the ignition switch. The correct key fob fires up the engine and the wrong key fob lock the engine and do not start until the correct key fob is inserted.
  • Child Safety Locking: Child Safety Locks are basically small switches built on the edge of the rear doors. When the Child Safety Lock is activated, the kids won’t be able to open the doors from inside even when the latch is unlocked. The door will open only when someone pulls the exterior door handle of the car to let the passengers out. The child safety lock system can be deactivated.
  • Power Door Lock: Power Door Lock or Electric Door Lock or Central Door Locking is a function that enables the front passenger or the driver to unlock or lock all the doors of the vehicle by flipping a switch or pressing a button.
  • Automatic Headlamps: Automatic Headlamps enables the driver to not manually switch on and off the headlamps while driving. The automatic headlamps function through a photoelectric sensor which is embedded into the instrument panel. This sensor gets activated by the lighting conditions like dawn and dusk.
  • Other safety features: Other safety features of Toyota Fortuner are:
  • Central Locking
  • Turn Indicators on ORVM
  • Headlamp Beam Adjuster
  • Rear Wiper

These are the safety features that are offered by Toyota Fortuner to ensure the safety of its passengers. Even though the consumers have very little knowledge about the safety features, it must be kept primary before purchasing a car.
