How To Save For Trip To Germany

Germany is a country brimming with vast history, scenic forests and scrumptious food. So, if you’re planning a trip to Europe, Germany should be on your list. And, it really shouldn’t break the bank if you are careful with your expenditure. Here is how you can save during your trip to the beautiful country.

  • Travel

Ensure that you book your air tickets several months in advance. It generally takes 10-15 business days for a Germany visa application to get processed; it may even take up to a month depending on the paperwork. Therefore, you should plan your trip accordingly.

You should also check out the various travel insurance policies for Germany that cover your trip in case of any risks or mishaps during your trip.

To ensure reasonable travel, you can buy daily or weekly train tickets like the Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, which will allow you and your co-travelers to travel all throughout Germany during the weekend just for Rs.2700

  • Accommodation

It will be far cheaper to book a hostel dorm room which will be available for around Rs.800-Rs.1500 per night.  Many hostels offer single and double rooms ranging between Rs.2000-Rs.3000.

  • Food

The capital, Berlin, is one of the cheapest destinations for food and drink in Germany. You don’t need to go to a restaurant to have a taste of the authentic German food. Street vendors serve you traditional delicacies like Kartoffelsalat or Bratwurst for under 400 rupees. You can also try the famous Doner kebabs and Falafels, while you're at it. Sweet delicacies from a local “Backerei” too will be easy on the pocket. It doesn’t make sense if you don’t indulge in beer when you’re in Germany. Try the local breweries instead of expensive bars to get the genuine taste of German beer.

  • Tourist Attractions

Many museums and landmarks are free to visit. Namely, the Berlin Wall Memorial, and German Museum, which allow you to walk-in for free. If the Berchtesgaden National Park is in your list of places to visit, you can explore this site all by yourself, saving you the cost of a tour guide.

Hope these tips will not only help you save money during your trip but will also give you a wholesome German experience!
