How Much Does A Trip To Visit Australia Cost?

Breathtaking landscapes, exotic wildlife, fabulous cities, and botanical gardens - Australia offers all this and more. In short, this land down under is a traveler’s paradise with all the wonderful things it has in store.

Since, Australia experiences winters during our hot-weather months, therefore it makes for a perfect summer getaway place for many Indians. However, Australia is an expensive country, and so it requires that you visit the place with full financial planning and preparation.

So, if you too are planning to take a trip to this country, then understand how much it will cost you.

  • Visa

Getting a tourist visa for Australia is the first important step in realizing your travel plan. Obtaining an Australian tourist visa from India will cost you roughly around Rs.7,000 to Rs. 8,000.

  • Airfare

The flight from India to Australia usually spans 8.66 hours under normal conditions. Flight tickets on one side (from any of the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore) will cost you around Rs. 41,000. So, for one person, the flight tickets for both sides will cost approximately Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 85,000. If you book through some trip planner, then you may get it for a lower price.

  • Accommodation

Australia offers many accommodation options ranging from grand hotel stays to coastal resort stays. You can even choose farm stays in the wilderness where you can feel close to nature and enjoy a cozy, comfortable stay.

The stay in hotels and resorts vary anywhere between Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 12,000 for a single night’s rest, meaning your ten night’s stay shall fall between Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1.2 lakh for a single room.

On the other hand, farm stay cost ranges between Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 6,000, so this can be a good option for those who are traveling on a low budget.  You can also grab an Australia travel guide to know the nearest popular spot from your accommodation. This way you will be able to manage time with ease.

  • Attractions and Experiences

There are lots to see and experience in Australia. From immersive gallery experiences to zoo and aquarium tours to theme parks and opera houses, you will have to spend a few thousand everywhere. The ticket cost at various places varies from 1k to as high as 25k. So, depending on what’s your budget and what are your preferences, you can keep a separate fund for visiting all these attractions.

  • Transportation

People in Australia usually take public transport for moving about. Depending on which city you’re traveling to, public transport will include buses, trains, tram, and ferries. Public transportation is costlier, and its price also depends on the distance in most cities. For instance, in Sydney, a single adult fare range between Rs. 130 to Rs. 500. Also, the cost of the ferries is more expensive here.

  • Eating/ Shopping

Just as everything else is exorbitantly priced in this land of kangaroos, eating out and shopping is also heavy on the pocket.

  • Food: An average meal in Australia will cost you somewhere in between Rs.800 to Rs. 1,000. If you go for a meal at a reasonably good restaurant, then your bill may equal anywhere between Rs.2,000 to Rs. 4,000.
  • Drinking: Australia is a country of drinkers, and yet the prices are slightly on the higher side.  If you wish to drink Beer, then it will cost you around Rs.450 to Rs.700. However, you can have a beer and other drinks for a low price at backpacker bars.
  • Shopping: Since everything else is priced high, shopping for your loved ones too means you’ll have to keep a good sum of money for the same.

In all, an Australian trip per person can cost up to 1.5 lakh to 3 lakhs. So, keep aside a good sum of money whenever you plan to fly off to Australia.

While planning for your trip, also remember to purchase Australia travel insurance to keep yourself secure against various travel-related challenges. Travel insurance policy will compensate you for any loss or unnecessary expense that you may have to meet with. This will ensure that you’re able to spend your money on things that will add to your experience, while the travel insurance takes care of other things.

So, enjoy your Australian trip to the fullest whenever you plan one! If you are traveling with your significant other, read these couple travel tips to Australia.
