Exercises You Can Do At Home To Keep Fit During Monsoon

As the monsoon begins, you gorge on fried food a little more than usual. So, do you think the rains should be an excuse for you to skip your exercise routine? Especially when you need to burn those extra calories.

So, if you’re serious about maintaining your health, then even if you can’t go to the gym or park, you can easily do a few exercises at home. A few such exercises are as follows-

• Bodyweight Squats

Squats do not require any equipment. Just stand tall, with your feet spread slightly wider than your shoulder width. Then lower your body by pushing your hips back and bending your knees slowly. Repeat this for at least 15-20 times.

Helpful for muscle-building and improving muscle mass, squats also activate back muscles and glutes. So, we suggest that do include this in your home exercise regime.

• Crunches

Crunches tone the mid-section and improve body posture and stability. So, lie down with a padded mat on the floor, with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Next, contract your muscles and lift your body so that your shoulders are off the blade, but your lower back is still on the floor.

This exercise can be done quite easily at home and can keep that unwanted flab away as you enjoy fries and pakodas during monsoons.

• Hip Raise

Hip raise movement activates many muscle groups in your body. It raises the metabolism rate and helps burn calories. Moreover, if done regularly, it makes the muscles of your midsection firmer.

Simple to do on your own, lie down, with knees bent and feet touching the ground. Then lift your hips off the ground. Hold this for a few seconds and repeat.

• Incline Push Up

A strength training exercise, incline push-ups require you to place your hands on a raised surface. At home, you can use a box, bench, or one of the steps of the stairs. Placing your hands on this elevated surface, lower your body until your arms dips below the elbows. You may do 12 to 15 repetitions of this.

• Breathing Exercises

With intense body exercises, you can do some light breathing exercises also. Exercises like pranayama and kapalbhati, that ensure systematic breathing in your body improve lung functioning and the flow of blood in the body. This will keep cold, cough, and other such problems away.
