In Case of Accidental Damage

Here is a handy list of documents that you should have in case you are filing a claim for accidental damage:

  • Car insurance policy paper or a copy of the cover note
  • Driving License of the person behind the wheels
  • RC or registration certificate of the insured vehicle
  • A valid claim intimation form
  • Proof of identification - Aadhar card and PAN card details of the insured person
  • Estimate of repair to be provided if asked

Some insurance companies have chosen to take the paperless route. In such situations, you can appraise them of the circumstances of the accident over a call. This is adequate to start the claim process.

 The list of documents given are mandatory at the point of filing a claim against your car insurance. In case you wish to get your car serviced or repaired at a non-cashless service centre or garage, you may be required to provide additional documents. These include:

  • Proper invoice of repair
  • Receipt of payment
  • A valid cancelled cheque

  • Form 28, 29 and 30 that must be signed by the insured
  • Form 35 to be signed by the Financer, depending on what the case may be, on admission of liability of insurers
  • A letter of subrogation
  • A consent for the agreed claim settlement value from you and the Financer
  • A NOC of the Financer if claim is to be settled in insured's favour
  • A claim Discharge Voucher signed across a Revenue Stamp
