Long work hours, mind-boggling tasks during the day can leave you fatigued by the end of the day. The crowded and jammed roads during your driving hours add to it and make it all the more tough, stressful and unhealthy. Here are a few ways that you can bring in your daily practice to ensure daily healthy driving.

 

1. Get Enough Sleep

You head a team at your workplace, churn your brains for more than the usual hours and then are deemed to drive back home across those crowded roads. How many hours are you able to spare for your regular sleep? Not enough, right!

It is recommended to sleep for at least 7-8 hours every night before you start a new day. Inadequate sleep disturbs your decision making while driving, makes you lethargic and can even put you to sleep which can be very detrimental.

For a healthier day and increased efficiency make sure you sleep well and maintain the perfect work and sleep balance.

 

2. Snack Healthy; Not Heavy

When you know you are to drive for two to three hours every day, it is obvious that those usual hunger pangs will hit you. And that is when you will reach out for unhealthy options, which we would not really want.

During your daily hours of driving, keep a healthy mix of nuts such as almonds, walnuts, and seeds with you to munch alongside. Nutritious and beneficial, they will help you stay healthy and fit.

Heavy snacking/ eating, often makes one lethargic and puts you at an increased risk of inattentive driving leading to accidental mishaps.

 

3. Keep That Glare Off, Get Yourself Eye Shades

The sun may often give you a tough time during the summer time and that’s when you need to make sure you do not forget to pick a pair of sunglasses before you drive off.

The UV rays from the sunlight can adversely affect your eyes and cause an unwanted eye strain which may have severe consequences later.

For the coming summer, get yourself the perfect pair of glares, not only to add to your attire but to shield the pair of eyes behind the same. 

 

4. Keep Yourself Hydrated

To maintain a healthy, it is recommended to have at least 7-8 glasses of water every day. But how many of you manage to do so. Not much right?

Every day when you step out of your house, make sure you carry a glass water bottle or a thermostatic flask for your vehicle. Do not drink water from a plastic bottle placed in the car for a day. Toxins leach out in the water and make the water unfit for drinking purpose.

Drinking water during driving helps you stay alert and active. The car atmosphere, that is deficient of fresh air, due to the continuous use of air conditioners and heaters often rips off the moisture from our body. Therefore, make sure you keep drinking water rather than picking unhealthy soda and juices while you drive.

 

5. Keep Your Cell-phone Away

No matter how efficient you are at driving, use of cell phone is a complete “NO”. It diverts your attention, increases your reaction time, and creates stress which indirectly harms your health.

Studies show that use of cellphones potentially distract the drivers in multiple ways, such as physically, visually, auditory and most important cognitively. So, make sure you place your mobile away while driving.
