George Kurien has over 24 years of experience in the General Insurance industry. As Chief Financial Officer of Bharti AXA General Insurance he is responsible for Finance, Investments, Project Management and Administration.
He joined the AXA group in 2005 as the Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for the finance function for the Middle East operations, which had a premium income of circa US$ 300 m.
George brings with him, a rich experience as the Head of Finance of multinational insurance companies such as Norwich Union Insurance (AVIVA), Middle East and AXA Insurance, Middle East.
During his tenure with AXA Middle East, he was responsible for setting up AXA Cooperative Insurance, a cooperative insurance company in Saudi Arabia. He also successfully managed AXA's entry to the State of Qatar, by setting up a new operation under the Qatar Financial Centre. He was a Director on the board of ASC, Dubai, a services company that provides policy and claims processing services to AXA Group companies in the Middle East.
Besides Finance, George has experience in core insurance operations as well in underwriting, claims and branch management. He has served as a guest faculty at the United India Insurance training centre and at seminars in the Gulf.
He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London and Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India.
He is married with two sons aged 14 and 19 years. His interests include music, cricket and philately.
